I. CALL TO WORSHIP
Reading: Psalm 145:1-7
Call: THIS IS THE WORD OF THE LORD.
Response: THANKS BE TO GOD!
Song: Holy Holy Holy
Song: Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Song: How Deep the Father's Love For Us
II. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Corporate Call:
Father, we confess to you, and to one another, that we have sinned through our own fault, in thought, word, and deed. We have longed for what you reject. Our loves are disordered, and we have been charmed by the whispers of sin. Idols have made their home in our hearts, and our love for you has grown cold.
We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We have not forgiven others as we have been forgiven.
We have been deaf to your call and blind to your beauty.
We have grieved your Holy Spirit.
Lord, we are lost and helpless apart from your grace. So we run for refuge to your infinite mercy, asking for your forgiveness. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, hear our cry:
Response: Father, forgive us.
III. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.
Beloved, in Christ you have been washed in the blood of the Lamb.
In Christ you have been raised by the power of his resurrection.
In Christ your eyes have been opened to see his forgiveness, and your ears opened to hear that the King has saved his people.
In Christ you have been made a new creation.
In Christ, Almighty God, the maker of heaven and earth, has done everything needed to fully forgive and restore you.
Church, this is the good news of the gospel, so lift up your hearts and hear these words: By the great and powerful name of Jesus, the King of Kings, I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Thanks be to God!
Song: All I Have Is Christ
IV. APOSTLE’S CREED/LORD’S PRAYER
Apostle’s Creed:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Lord’s Prayer:
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory forever.
Amen.
