I. CALL TO WORSHIP

II. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
 and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:
Lord, we confess that we have grievously sinned against you in word, thought, and deed; Not only in outward transgressions, but also in secret thoughts and desires that we are unable fully to understand, but which are all known to you. 

We are in need of your renewing grace, for we have fallen short of your glory. The guilt and shame of our sin is ever before us. Words have escaped our mouths that testify to the rebellion of our hearts. For out of the heart the mouth speaks. Lord, we long to be restored by your grace. 

For this reason we run to the storehouses of your mercy and seek your forgiveness. In the name of Jesus our Redeemer, hear our cry.

Response: Father, forgive us.


III. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.

The Almighty God, the maker of heaven and earth, the ascended King, has achieved all there is to accomplish to fully forgive and restore you who have fallen into sin. 

Beloved, upon the cross Jesus the Christ has borne your sins, he has freed you from your guilt, and he has cleansed you from your shame. 

By his blood he has removed the guilt of your sin as far as the east is from the west. 

By his resurrection he has bestowed you life. He has given you a living hope that will not be taken. 

So lift up your hearts and hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!

IV. APOSTLE’S CREED/LORD’S PRAYER

Apostle’s Creed:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Lord’s Prayer:

Thy kingdom come,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;
