I. CALL TO WORSHIP
Reading: Psalm 47
Call: THIS IS THE WORD OF THE LORD.
Response: THANKS BE TO GOD!

Song: Psalm 46 (Chant)
Song: Sing To Jesus
Song: Lord From Sorrows Deep I Call

II. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
 and lead me in the way everlasting!

Corporate Call:
Lord, we come before You this morning confessing our sin and professing our need of a Savior. For apart from Your grace we are lost, and without Your mercy we are without hope.

Our most righteous acts are filthy rags before You, and our hearts are deceitful beyond our own understanding. The lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, the pride of life — these have drawn our affections away. We have loved what we should not, and rested our hope on what cannot hold.

So we come this morning empty, in need of mercy; we come this morning poor, in need of grace. And we run — not from You, but to You — to the only fountain that will not run dry. In the name of Jesus our Redeemer, hear our cry:

Response: Father, forgive us.

III. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.

 Beloved, do not let your hearts be downcast but rather lift your drooping heads, for the good news of the Gospel has declared that Jesus the Christ, the King of kings, has cast your sins into the deepest sea. He has removed your sins as far as the east is from the west. The Lamb of God took your depravity upon his back and nailed sin’s curse to the tree. For by his wounds, you have been healed. By his death, you have been forgiven, and by his resurrection, you have been given new life and the hope of glory!

So Church, hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!

Response: Thanks be to God!

Song: All I Have Is Christ

IV. APOSTLE’S CREED/LORD’S PRAYER

Apostle’s Creed:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Lord’s Prayer:
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory forever.
Amen.
