II. CONFESSION
Individual Call: Psalm 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
Corporate Call:
Lord, we confess that we have grievously sinned against you in word, thought, and deed; Not only in outward transgressions, but also in secret thoughts and desires that we are unable fully to understand, but which are all known to you.
We are in need of your infinite grace, for we have sinned and have fallen short of your glory. Our hearts have strayed, our minds have wandered, and our flesh desires that which you despise.
Lord, our sins are ever before us and for this reason we run to your infinite mercy seeking your forgiveness. In the name of Jesus our Redeemer, hear our cry!
Response: Father, forgive us.
III. ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Arise and hear the good news!
Church, your prayers have not failed, for your confession has ascended to the right hand of the Father, where the Great High Priest has now interceded on your behalf.
The Almighty God, the maker of heaven and earth, the ascended King, has achieved all there is to accomplish to fully forgive and restore you who have fallen into sin.
Beloved, on the cross, Jesus atoned for your sins. He has pardoned your guilt and cleansed you of shame. Through His resurrection, He has secured eternal life for you. Now, the ascended Christ—the One who reigns from the heavenly throne, has silenced every accusing voice, and has extended to you His mercy, grace, and unending love.
Today, you stand before Him, in Christ, forgiven and restored.
So lift up your hearts and hear these words, by the great and powerful name of Jesus I declare to you that your sins are forgiven!
Response: Thanks be to God!
Song: O Praise The Name (Anástasis)
IV. APOSTLE’S CREED/LORD’S PRAYER
Apostle’s Creed:
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Lord’s Prayer:
Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the kingdom,
and the power,
and the glory forever.
Amen.
